We have been talking to the DfT and their consultant Ricardo. They have asked us to help with an energy use survey for inland waters. This survey has been developed by Ricardo, in collaboration with the Department for Transport (DfT), to aid in improving emissions estimates from inland waterways and leisure craft. With support from NABO, this survey seeks input from boaters across the UK to better understand patterns of vessel use, onboard energy consumption, and attitudes towards cleaner energy technologies. Topics covered include fuel types, engine usage, heating and cooking energy sources, and interest in low-emission alternatives. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous. It is important that we get a meaningful number of replies so that DfT have a good measure of our energy usage.
