The Canal & River Trust has appointed appoints new chief executive to replace Robin Evans. Richard Parry is to swap trains for boats as he takes up the role of chief executive of the Canal & River Trust starting this summer.

NABO Policies NABO Council develops policies from time to time and these form the basis of our consultation with navigation authorities and other user groups. These are reviewed in consultation with the membership and are therefore the nearest we can get to a consensus of opinion within our Association.
Windermere boaters die of suspected carbon monoxide fumes
There is tragic news in the national press about the death of two people from suspected CO poisoning on a boat on lake Windermere.
Your BSS Certificate is changing
After 31 March 2013, boat owners will no longer have the task of sending off the blue copy of their Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) Certificate to the boat’s registration or licensing body as the examination recording process has moved into a central online database system with direct input from BSS examiners.
NABO subscriptions to increase
The basic NABO annual subscription rate will increase by £10 making the full membership rate £25 per annum. The rates for the other classes of membership will also increase accordingly and in these uncertain times, we have decided to abolish life membership.

Boat owner fined for illegally mooring his boat on Ely Riverside
A boater moored his boat on the River Great Ouse in Ely without permission for four months. He claimed he could not move the boat, as it did not currently have an engine.
