Delivering a long term security of water supply to the waterway network will help the Canal & River Trust achieve its vision of living waterways that transform places and enrich lives. To enable this, CRT are developing a Water Resources Strategy to allow them to plan successfully for the future.
The strategy sets out CRT's aspirations for the next five years, but looks as far ahead as 2050 to understand the longer term pressures and challenges.
Last year CRT ran a consultation on their Resources Strategy for 8 weeks, from 9 September to 4 November 2014. NABO provided a full response to this (see our website). We also had had a presentation from CRT on this topic at our AGM in late 2013.
CRT have now published a summary of all the responses (over 150) and are now revising the strategy to reflect that feedback.
The Summary of Consultation Responses can be found at Completed consultations web page.
The final Water Resources Strategy will be published in 2015.
