EA have recently issued their programme of River Thames lock closures, all part of the Waterway investment programme – 2012/13.
Listed below are the locks that will be closed during the 2012/13 waterway investment programme. The locks will be closed from the first date listed and will re-open on the day after the final date.
Buscot Lock 28 January 2013 to 28 February 2013
Re-sheeting the lock gates
Rushey Lock 7 January 2013 to 1 March 2013 Replacing the rubbing timbers
Iffley Lock 1 November 2012 to 8 March 2013 Replacing the lock gates
Abingdon Lock 5 November 2012 to 21 March 2013
Refurbishing the lock chamber
Whitchurch Lock 28 January 2013 to 09 February 2013
Repairs to lock gates and lock chamber cills
Old Windsor Lock 5 November 2012 to 25 January 2013
Refurbishing the lock chamber
Penton Hook Lock 5 November 2012 to 22 December 2012
Additional closure 3 January 2013 to 31 January
Inspecting and refurbishing the lock gates
Sunbury New Lock 21 January 2013 to 15 February 2013
Repairs to lock gate anchor plates
Sunbury old lock will remain open during the new lock closure. Passage will be limited to published lock keeper hours of duty.

Refurbishing lock chamber and boat rollers
EA are also carrying out other capital works on the waterway during 2012/13, please see below for details. These works will not affect you using the locks during the construction.
· Rushey Paddle and Rymer weir – Replacing the existing weir with 3 dipping radial gates and raised cills incorporating lightweight paddles on shorter section – summer 2012 and summer 2013.
· Iffley Weir – Repairs to the existing 5 buck gates – summer 2013
· Osney weir – Replacing the split bucks gates with a new tilting gate – summer 2013
· Molesey Weir – Replacing the existing 15 split gates with 7 radial gates, including a new fish pass – work starts April 2013.
