NABO attended the launch of Thames River Watch in London on the 17th of February – an initiative to engage community groups, individuals, schools and riverside businesses aiming to raise awareness of the environmental issues that the river faces by enabling volunteers to provide pro-active support and involvement in improving the health of the river.
Participants don’t need to know anything about water or the Thames, as Thames21 will make sure they receive the training and equipment needed. Volunteers are sought to help with monitoring the water quality, the invasive non-native species (animals and plants who are not naturally occurring in the River Thames and which pose a threat to our native species), and monitor and clear litter.
