EA have today made a press release saying "Boaters ordered to pay £3,239 for flouting boat registration laws."
The Canal & River Trust (CRT) is a legal Charity
The Charity Commission has confirmed the registration of the Canal & River Trust under registration number 1146792. The news means that the Trust, which already has a Board of Trustees, a governing Council and, in HRH The Prince of Wales, a Royal Patron, is now legally permitted to raise charitable income to support its objectives.

British Waterways Transfer Order in Parliament
The draft Order for the transfer of functions of British Waterways to the Canal & River Trust was laid before Parliament on 29 February 2012. The Public Bodies Act 2011 allows for such orders to be approved by resolution of each House after the expiry of the 40-day period specified in the Act.
