EA have just published their first annual report for the non tidal Thames. Given the Waterways Minister’s statement that he is considering a proposal to move EA navigation waters into BW’s control, it is appropriate that BW’s customers see how the other half live.
The Thames Users Group, of which NABO is a member, have been very supportive of EA’s recent performance of management and maintenance, and understandably do not wish to see a change for the worse. There is a suspicion that the EA’s funding is somewhat better than the canals have become accustomed to, but then there are more than 20,000 boats on 147 miles of waterways. Perhaps they are paying for more?
