The Canal & River Trust (CRT) is a legal Charity

The Charity Commission has confirmed the registration of the Canal & River Trust under registration number 1146792. The news means that the Trust, which already has a Board of Trustees, a governing Council and, in HRH The Prince of Wales, a Royal Patron, is now legally permitted to raise charitable income to support its objectives.

Staffs and Worcs Canal Lock Tail Bridges

John Slee, NABO continuous cruising rep, writes, I am currently cruising from Stourport to Great Haywood on the Staffs & Worcs Canal. So far I have only reached the summit pound, but I believe I have seen enough to send in the following complaint to a British Waterways DIrector concerning the risk to boaters and other canal users caused by BW's Health & Safety policy and the loss of visual amenity. I have also submitted a FOI request - see on http://whatdotheyknow.com

HRH Prince of Wales: Patron for Canal & River Trust

His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, a long-time supporter of the waterways, will become the first Patron of the new Canal & River Trust, the body being set up to care for the historic canals and rivers of England and Wales.

The news was announced at the first meeting of the CRT's Council in Birmingham on Wednesday, where members confirmed the appointment of the charity’s founding Trustees.

More lock restrictions-Leeds & Liverpool Canal

BW have announced more water conservation restrictions for summer 2012, this time on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
